Miraculous Medal Novena
Mondays after 8:00 A.M. Mass
Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal instituted the wearing of a popular and powerful sacramental.
How to Pray an Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Novena
Know that between 1830 and 1831 the Virgin Mary made several appearances to Parisian nun Catherine Labouré. She announced to Catherine that she wanted a medal to be struck. On one side was to be the letter “M,” a cross, and the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. On the other was to be an image of Mary surrounded by the prayer “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Mary promised great blessings, miracles, assistance, healings and graces to those who wore the medal. As soon as the medal appeared before the public it became immensely popular. Catherine Labouré was declared a saint in 1947.
Say the following prayer for nine consecutive days, nine Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays or every hour for nine hours.
O Immaculate Virgin Mary,
Mother of Our Lord Jesus and our Mother, penetrated with the most lively confidence in your all-powerful and never-failing intercession, manifested so often through the Miraculous Medal, we your loving and trustful children implore you to obtain for us the graces and favors we ask during this novena, if they be beneficial to our immortal souls, and the souls for whom we pray.
Mention the purpose of your prayer. You know, O Mary, how often our souls have been the sanctuaries of you Son who hates iniquity. Obtain for us then a deep hatred of sin and that purity of heart which will attach us to God alone so that our every thought, word and deed may tend to His greater glory. Obtain for us also a spirit of prayer and self-denial that we may recover by penance what we have lost by sin and at length attain to that blessed abode where you are the Queen of angels and of men
